Jewish Family Services Bargaining Report # 4

Bargaining Report #4

January 20, 2025

Union members and friends,

The bargaining session held January 20th, reaffirmed the importance of our collective resolve and the critical role we play in pushing for the transparency and fairness that workers deserve.

Much of our time was dedicated to following up on the Request for Information (RFI) we submitted two weeks ago. This RFI includes essential documentation on policies, procedures, compensation, and benefits—information that lays the foundation for a strong and equitable contract. While we are still awaiting some of this information, our team continues to press forward, ensuring that we have the tools we need to negotiate effectively.

As we reflect on today’s efforts, it’s important to remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who was a strong advocate for unions and workers' rights. He recognized unions as vital to achieving economic justice and dignity for workers. Dr. King stood shoulder to shoulder with striking sanitation workers in Memphis, reminding us that “all labor has dignity.” His fight for workers’ rights inspires us today as we stand united to demand fairness, respect, and transparency at JFS.

Our strength lies in our solidarity. Each one of us plays a vital role in this movement, and your support fuels our determination at the bargaining table. As we continue this process, we are inspired by the courage of those who came before us and the power of what we are building together.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication and belief in what we can achieve as a united workforce. Together, we are creating the change we all deserve.

In solidarity,
Your bargaining team
