The Union (CWA) and Company (CenturyLink) started negotiations on Monday, January 16, 2012, in Olathe, KS. The Union and Company presented 24 proposals each on the first day. Both sides presented their proposals and answered a few questions before breaking to discuss the proposals with their respective committees.
The Union and Company met again on January 17, 18, 19 and today, with only minor proposals being agreed to.
The retrogressive proposals from the Company include; change the bidding process, discipline for honoring a picket, eliminate contracting out language, new classification language, new work and safety policies language and change the recognition and incentive program.
The Union presented 7 more proposals on January 19, 2012.
We are scheduled to meet again on January 23, 2012.
