The Union (CWA) and Company (CenturyLink/Lumen) kicked off bargaining on Monday, January 18, 2021, and continued throughout the week. The Union presented 21 proposals and the Company presented 21 proposals.

On Wednesday bargaining became contentious as we met with the company several times and into the evening. The company withdrew a few of their insignificant proposals and felt they deserved credit for doing so. Both sides have tentatively agreed to a few proposals, but lines have been drawn in the sand. Today your Bargaining Committee met with the company and made a few counter proposals and a substantial request for information to the company’s retrogressive proposals regarding Pension and VEBA. We are waiting on the company’s response to our RFI so we can assess the information. The company also made a few counter proposals to our Union proposals and we were able to agree in principle on a couple of company and Union proposals.
Yesterday, Monday, August 6, your Bargaining Committee met with the company and went over the Union and Company proposals. The company was not interested in many of the Union’s modest enhancements. We discussed an announcement that was sent to the Union after hours on yesterday regarding the sale of the Arkansas Bargaining Unit to a company called Apollo the announcement the Lumen was selling all CenturyLink in district 6 to Apollo Global Management. The Union and Company met today in joint sessions to thoroughly go over the company and Union proposals. The Union questioned the company on many of their proposals. The company is going to provide a presentation regarding the pension on tomorrow. The company has many retrogressive proposals on the table. We are doing our due diligence in asking the company for documentation to justify their need for their proposals. We resume full committee negotiations tomorrow but your committee will still
