Southwest Electric Final Bargaining Report

 

The Union met with the Company on November 18, 2014 to finalize bargaining over the closure of the Power Division and after reviewing all proposals we have reached an agreement.  Severance Payments: •Employees with fewer than 10 years of continuous employment with the Company will receive 120 hours of pay at their regular straight time rate, less required state and Federal withholding. •Employees with 10 years, but less than 20 years of continuous employment with the Company will receive 200 hours of pay at their regular straight time rate, less required state and Federal withholding. •Employees with 20 years or more of continuous employment with the Company will receive 400 hours of pay at their regular straight time rate, less required state and Federal withholding.  •The severance payments will be made within two weeks of the cessation of Power Division Operations. Job Bidding: •Power Division employees will be considered for job openings in other divisions as per paragraph 8.3, and will be given priority over bidders from the division other than the division with the opening, and over new hires.  After cessation of Power Division operations, displaced employees will be eligible to bid on job openings in the two remaining divisions in the following job titles: Janitor, Helper, Manufacturing Technician, Repair Technician and Tester, and will be given priority consideration over bidders from the division other than the division with the opening, and over new hires.  Notification of job openings will be made to the President of CWA Local 6016, and the company shall have no obligation to notify individual displaced employees.  Displaced employees bidding on job openings must submit their bids to HR@swelectric.com within the posting period established in 8.3.    •A displaced employee’s rights to bid on openings shall cease on the earlier of his (a) accepting a job in another division, or (b) 6 months from the cessation of Power Division operations.  Power Division seniority and Power Division pay scale will not be grandfathered into another division. •Job Openings will be posted on the Local Website at www.cwalocal6016.org   In Solidarity, Your Bargaining Committee
