Bargaining Report #5

Bargaining committee representatives of KCUR 89.3 and Classical KC 91.9 FM, alongside leaders of CWA Local 6360 and CWA representative Gerald Murray, reconvened with the University of Missouri – Kansas City for their fifth bargaining session on Monday, January 26.

We heard the University’s counters to four of the nine remaining proposals we have submitted, including many issues important to the unit, including:
● Artificial intelligence
● Deduction of dues
● Discipline
● Layoffs

We also submitted some of our responses to the counterproposals that the University submitted to us last week. We came to a tentative agreement on a few standard policies.

Progress is being made – while there is still a lot of work to do, we are moving forward and are happy with the progress that has been made so far. Following thorough discussions with the bargaining committee, we anticipate continuing to negotiate these proposals, and could come to more tentative agreements soon. We will introduce more proposals at our next meeting, which is scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
