CWA/Apple Retail Bargaining Report #9 Penn Square Location, Oklahoma City, OK
Today the CWA bargaining team completed its first bargaining session for the month of September. The day began with the bargaining team countering the Company’s management rights proposal in addition to a quarantine proposal to protect pay and time away in instances where the Company requires employees to quarantine.
The Company confirmed that at the moment, there are no cases where employees are required to quarantine in other stores, with the exception of Penn Square employees for COVID related illnesses due to status quo.
After a brief recess, the Company returned counters to travel compensation in addition to a proposal for performance management and a proposal for discipline and discharge. After brief discussion regarding the above, the Company ended with a counter to the management’s rights proposal we began the day with.
While we feel that we are very close to a TA on some of the above proposals, we do feel there is a lot of work and discussion to be done regarding management’s rights. While it is our position that the current proposal is overly broad and debilitates our ability to adequately protect our peers with the full blanket of benefits a Union provides, we also recognize the Company’s necessity to be able to continue to run the day-to-day operations of the business as necessary. As such, we are committed to finding common ground that is beneficial for everyone involved.
Tomorrow we will continue our negotiations around scheduling and continued discussion regarding some of the above proposals. Thank you to everyone who has continued to support us and our efforts to negotiate a contract for our peers.
