CWA/Apple Retail Bargaining Report #3 Penn Square Location, Oklahoma City, OK

Today the CWA Bargaining team continued negotiations with the Apple Bargaining team in Oklahoma City, OK. The morning began with the Union receiving a Management Rights proposal from Apple. This initial proposal directly conflicts with many of our twenty-eight (28) proposals; however Apple stated that they had this proposal drafted prior to the start of bargaining in anticipation of passing it. We are preparing several questions to ask during tomorrow’s session in preparation of a future counter proposal from the Union.

Most of the day was spent answering several questions by Apple’s bargaining team in relation to seniority, recognition (what defines full time versus part time), processes for job openings, and what happens in the event of a possible surplus.

The day did close with Apple passing us a counter proposal regarding us having a Union bulletin board in the store (which will be an onsite communication channel), for which we are very close to a tentative agreement. At the close of today’s session, they did mention a presentation tomorrow (didn’t specify on what), and stated we could anticipate one or two additional counter proposals during this session.

The store employees on the bargaining team (Michael, Darren, and Kirsten) were all excellent today in helping to provide firsthand knowledge on answering many of the questions from Apple on how our proposals would work in your store!

In closing, we are meeting again tomorrow at 9am for the second day of this session and will follow up with an additional bargaining report tomorrow evening.

In Unity & Solidarity,

CWA/Apple Bargaining Team
