CWA/Apple Retail Bargaining Report #15 Penn Square Location, Oklahoma City, OK

Union Family,

Happy New Year!

CWA/Apple Bargaining team met today for day one of our two day session for January.

The Union Bargaining team presented the following counter proposals:

  • Store Relocation/Closing - our counter proposal removed language stating you couldn’t transfer to a new location due to discipline if the store relocated.

  • Scheduling and Availability - we amended our counter proposal to include a new represented position defined as a schedule planner to assist with scheduling issues/concerns.

  • Discipline and Discharge - our counter proposal added language that the Company follows progressive discipline and added a couple extra steps of discipline from the Company's original proposal.

  • Severance Pay - our counter proposal added tiers on how much severance pay each employee would get based on completed years of service, as well as eliminate a formula from the Company’s proposal that would give part time employees less money.

The Company presented the following:

  • Timekeeping and Attendance - Accepted additional steps of discipline we had countered with and accepted points dropping after six consecutive months instead of the original 12 months. We did raise some concerns with point allotment on calling out after shift has started and are still working through these.

  • Union Leave - Company countered with language that would limit the amount of hours they would pay for representation meetings (Weingarten rights). We are far off on this proposal, as these meetings are the Company’s meetings in which the end result could end in discipline. They did take back our concerns, however this proposal needs a lot of work.

In closing, we did spend a lot of time in our own breakout meeting while the Company led us to believe they were working through our counter proposals. We did not reach any tentative agreements today; however based on some movement, we are hopeful to have some TA’s tomorrow. We will send a report tomorrow evening on day 2 of 2.
