CWA/Apple Retail Bargaining Report #10 Penn Square Location, Oklahoma City, OK
CWA/Apple Bargaining team met today for day two of our two day session for September. The morning started with a T/A of a Travel proposal. If an employee has to use their personal car due to the job, the Company will reimburse mileage at the IRS negotiated rate.
We received two new proposals from Apple, one putting language in the contract protecting employee’s ability to vote in elections with up to two hours away from the job paid by the Company. After a few proposals back and forth to get the language right, this was T/A’d today as well. The second proposal was language in regards to what happens in the event a store is moved or closes and reopens within a specific period of time. We countered with suggestions on pieces we did not like and unfortunately, did not come to an agreement during today’s session.
Apple did bring in an additional specialist for scheduling to answer our scheduling questions. We spent a few hours getting explanations and answers to specific scheduling scenarios, and this is proving to be one of the toughest proposals we have worked on thus far. The team does have some ideas to make their process better and will hopefully have a counter for the October session.
In closing, the team continued to plug away at all proposals on our side of the table and is working towards pushing out our financial proposals later this year. Our next bargaining session is scheduled for Monday, October 23 and Tuesday, October 24 in OKC.
