CWA Local 6218/Consolidated Communications Katy, TX Bargaining Report # 7
CWA District 6 & Local 6218 continued bargaining with Consolidated last Tuesday & Wednesday in person in Katy. We continued to come to an agreement on many key issues prior to recessing on 3/22/23.
With only wages left to be ironed out, we agreed to go back to a virtual format on Monday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 28.
We have had many discussions on wages and improving them to come closer to what the job titles in Lufkin/Conroe are currently making. The Union has supplied a matrix showing the differences in pay, as well as cost of living info for the Katy area. The good news is we are currently above where pay raises were at with the last contract for all 3 years, but we are still focused on making sure there is no money left on the table before putting the negotiated contract before the Members to vote on.
We are scheduled to meet again today (March 29) virtually, and will continue to meet until we believe we have the best contract language we can bargain.
We have been successful in fighting back retrogressive demands on overtime, standby pay, as well as an attempt to lessen benefits on Workman’s Comp.
