CWA Local 6218/Consolidated Communications Bargaining Report #7

The Union and Company resumed negotiations in person on 9-20-22. 

The Company initially passed a proposal to eliminate our current life insurance policy at retirement even though any new hires after September 2020 already were not eligible. After carefully reviewing and considering the proposal, we officially rejected it this morning. The point was made to the Company that Employees have spent their whole careers with Consolidated to benefit from this policy upon retirement.

The Union passed information to try and push up wages for one of our lowest wage titles, which is currently lower than average in both the State of Texas as well as the city of Houston.

Lots of discussion on Health Care and follow up questions were asked considering the Company’s proposal.

Our next scheduled bargaining session is in person on Wednesday, September 21st.

Remember the Contract expires at midnight on October 15, 2022.
