CWA Local 6218/Consolidated Communications Bargaining Report #5

The Union and Company resumed negotiations virtually on 9-7-22. The Company began by answering questions the Union had the previous day concerning the Company’s ask to end Life insurance upon retirement. The Union is still waiting on the Company’s response to one more question on this matter before responding.

We reached a T/A on language providing a reimbursement for protective foot wear for employees required to wear such foot wear.

Unfortunately, the Company rejected 3 Union proposals concerning language pertaining to the use of contractors. The Company also countered on one proposal that the Union agreed to take back and look at concerning call out language.

The rest of the day was spent discussing the Union’s intent in asking for orientation time with new hires, as well as what content would be used should the Company accept this proposal. We also discussed the access to a virtual bulletin board to help advise employees who work from home that never see a traditional bulletin board.

The Union still has outstanding records requests from the Company to be able to counter medical care amongst other issues such as job titles possibly being added into the bargaining unit.

Our next scheduled bargaining session will be virtually on Thursday, September 8.

Remember the Contract expires at midnight on October 15, 2022.
