CWA Local 6174/CenturyLink of Texas Bargaining Report #5

9/30/2022

The Union and the Company met again today virtually. After discussing the tentative agreement offer that had been presented to the Union yesterday evening, we continued to address two huge issues for us:

1.  Company refused to give the Union any Successorship language that would protect every Article, MOA’s, and Wages once Brightspeed was to take over. Without this language there is no protection forcing them to honor any current, or tentatively agreed upon language added to the contract!

2.  The Company does not want to address pay issues they created, as many similar titles in other contracts are making more per hour for performing the same work! We believe in equal pay for equal work!

Because of these two very important issues that we could not resolve, both parties have agreed to an indefinite extension past the deadline. This will protect all employees with the existing contract language that was set to expire at midnight, and allow us to go back to the table with the new Company Brightspeed, to address these two huge concerns.

Once our next bargaining session is scheduled with Brightspeed, we will follow up with a new bargaining report.

United we Bargain……Divided we Beg!

In Solidarity,
Your CWA Bargaining Committee
