CWA District 6 - Johnson Controls - Bargaining Report (2020)
JOHNSON CONTROLS BARGAINING REPORT #1
On January 21st and 22nd, 2020, your CWA Bargaining Committee began negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. After extensive preparation and two long days of bargaining we were unable to reach a Tentative Agreement. In large part were the company’s unreasonable retrogressive proposals. We did agree on numerous items and made significant movement but your committee could not concede to a significant decrease in on-call pay, and a 15 minute increase in drive time. The company also wanted to go to a performance based pay scale based on your yearly appraisals. When asked to provide these appraisals to the Union for review, they stated they did not have them. The company was unable to substantiate the reasons for their proposals. Your Bargaining Committee has several items left addressing job security and Holiday and Vacation enhancements that are being provided to other employees within the company. We remain steadfast and strong to bring you a Fair and Just Agreement. We will not be bullied into accepting changes to things that have been long standing in the contract. Since an agreement was not reached we made sure the company provided us future dates to resume negotiations. We will go back to the table on March 10th and 11th, 2020.
We appreciate your support and ask you stay united!
In solidarity,
Your CWA Bargaining Committee
