The CWA Committee met with the Company in the morning. The Union Committee continued to ask questions regarding the Companies proposals. The Company rejected the Union’s proposals on Article 6 – Vacations, Article 7 – Holidays, Article 9 – Other Excused Absences, Article 10 – Contracting and Transferring Work Out, Article 16 – Sickness and Disability Leave Benefits, Article 17 – Group Health Plans, Article 27 – Work Schedules All Departments, Article 29 – Evening Meal Expense, Article 30 – Board and Lodging and Article 32 – Termination Pay.
The Union Committee met again in the afternoon with the Company. We presented an amended School Tuition proposal and the Memorandum Of Agreement on Lump Sum Payment Option. The Union countered the Company proposal of the wearing of uniforms. The Company and Union came to tentative agreements on the following Memorandum of Agreements: CenturyTel 401(k) Plan and Trust, CenturyTel Inc. Plan for Hourly-Paid Employees Pensions, Lump Sum Pre-Retirement Death Benefit, Payroll Deduction For Cope, Assignment of Work Across Union Jurisdictional Boundaries, Home Dispatch, Driver’s / Chauffeur’s License and Interns.
