CenturyLink Local 6174 Bargaining Report #4
First, your Bargaining Committee wishes to thank each and every member for your unwavering support. There has been no update, because nothing new has happened at our table since we left October 1, 2010.
The Bargaining Committee was scheduled to return to bargaining table February 5, however, due to inclement weather throughout the region had to reschedule the meeting. We will be returning to the table on March 17 in Killeen to continue negotiations. The other tables in Missouri and Arkansas have not reached agreements at this point and are continuing to negotiate. The Missouri contract is due to expire March 11, 2011.
During the time we were away from the table, the Company gave notice that it wished to terminate the extension agreed to before we last parted. The extension has expired and the Company would not agree to another extension. What does this mean to you? It means you will continue to work under the same rate of pay and working conditions. All of your benefits remain in effect. The grievance procedure continues, but arbitration probably will not. You have a legal right to participate in "concerted activity" by mobilizing on the job, wearing buttons and stickers, a leafleting or informational picketing. Your area mobilization coordinators will be contacting you soon, so please update your contact information with a job steward or call the Local as soon as possible.
Your CWA Bargaining Team is committed to continue fighting for a fair contract. Mobilization is critical. In addition, please continue to invite non-members to join the fight. Make sure the Company knows you stand behind all of the Bargaining Teams at each CenturyLink location in our District.
In Unity and Solidarity
