AT&T Mobility Bargaining Report #6

The CWA Bargaining Committee met with the Company Committee twice on Friday.  Bargaining began in the morning.  The Union Bargaining Committee presented bargaining demands to the Company on Article 2 – Recognition and Establishment of the Unit, Article 17 – Company Union Relationship, Article 22 – Vacations, Article 24 – Excused Days with Pay and Article 25 – Exchange Time.  The CWA Bargaining Committee also presented bargaining demands for an upgrade to the CSR I title working in the MSS located in the Austin Call Center, and an upgrade for the Clerical Associate job classification.

The two Committees met again in the afternoon and exchanged bargaining demands.  The Union Negotiating Committee presented a demand on Article 14 – Force Adjustment.  CWA also presented a demand on the Retail Sales Consultant minimum pre-chargeback “at risk” commission payout.  The Committee presented a bargaining demand for a new contract article for Successorship in the event AT&T Mobility is bought by another corporation.

The Company presented three bargaining demands to the CWA Bargaining Committee.  The first Company Bargaining Demand 01 proposes a new disability plan as well as the elimination of pensions for new hires and the freezing of pensions for all current employees.  Company Bargaining Demand 03 is for Article 23 – Holidays.  The Company demand proposes the elimination of the Day after Thanksgiving as a Holiday and the creation of another Floating Holiday. Company Bargaining Demand O4 is for Article 21 – Absences.  This Company demand would change Section 6 Illness and Injury to limit the amount of paid sick days that an employee might use each year.  All three Company demands are very retrogressive and would negatively impact the Members and their families.  These bargaining demands have ensured that these negotiations will likely be difficult and possibly lengthy.

We need to stick together and increase Mobilization in the workplace.  The Company needs to understand that their bargaining demands are unacceptable.
