AT&T SW TA Featured Highlights - HEALTHCARE
As we enter the last week of voting, we want to feature a different section of the contract each day. We feel our members should be as informed as possible when making a decision that will ultimately affect the next four years of their career and by default, their lives!
As we have said, the bargaining process is a give and take and your bargaining team went to battle on your behalf to secure as many enhancements to your current contract as possible WITHOUT giving anything back!
Today’s Focus is HEALTHCARE!
For the first time in over 15 years, we’ve achieved a REDUCTION IN HEALTHCARE COSTS while expanding coverage options for our members. This is a monumental shift that puts moneyback in your pocket and gives you greater control over your care.
- Eliminated higher monthly premiums for new hires (everyone is the same)
- Added employee eligibility on day 1 for benefits (was previously 6 months)
- Added new eligibility for all dependents till age 26 on Dental, Vision, and life insurance
- Added participation into the Company’s Wellbeing Plan in which you
can earn up to an additional $750 for individual or $1500 for individual plus spouse/legally recognized partner. (more details to come in explanation meeting but one example is you get $200 just for doing an annual physical) - Added two new tiers besides Individual & Family (Individual + Spouse & Individual + Dependents)
With two additional tier options to the insurance plan, will the family option increase in price?
ANSWER: No, in the current contract extension that covered insurance through 2025 the employee cost share was 29%. With the new options, every employee is guaranteed at least 29% cost share with Option 1 - Broad and even cheaper cost share at 27% for Option 1 - Select. The two new tiers only allow other cheaper options for employees who have just a spouse or domestic partner or an employee with just dependents. So while some health care costs may rise, the cost share does not.
