Statement of Claude Cummings Jr. on Confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court
In a word, the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as the first African American woman to serve on the U.S Supreme Court is beautiful.
Hope and history; brilliance and integrity; hard work and wisdom have all come together to push past the ugliest politics of our age. Judge Jackson’s confirmation reveals the beauty of our great nation taking a giant step forward to become the more perfect union we are all promised.
Our nation is far from perfect. There are more steps to take. There are ugly fights ahead, but today we see that those fights will be won, and it is a beautiful sight for sure.
