Verizon Southwest Bargaining Report #8
On Friday, July 20, 2012 Local 6171 Bargaining Committee had further discussion on the proposals that were presented to the Union yesterday. The Health Care premium sharing was insulting. It seems that Verigreedy forgets the sacrifice we have made to make this company very profitable. We have seen our brothers and sisters become victims of numerous surplus’. We have sacrificed time with our families to meet the “needs of the business”. It is now time for Verizon to compensate us for these sacrifices.
Are they forgetting that the 2nd Quarter profit in up 13% Verizon also added 134,000 FIOS internet and 120,000 FIOS Video subscriber during the quarter. Or are they forgetful that they have made a profit of 1.83 BILLION so far? And if you are a tobacco user, be prepared to pay substantially more than a non-user.
We also met with the Company around lunch to go over more proposals. Brothers and Sisters, we must stand tall and proud to be Union and demand what we want to be able to provide for our families .
We are not asking to become millionaires from Verizon. All we want is good wages, benefits, working conditions, and job security. We deserve the American Dream. So stand up and get involved. Get a non-member to sign today. As always, Red on Thursdays and Black on Fridays.
