CWA/CONSOLIDATED COMMUNICATIONS OF FORT BEND (KATY, TEXAS OPERATIONS) BARGAINING REPORT #5

This is to advise that the Company failed to show up for bargaining today as planned.  The Company’s action is unconscionable considering the contract expires at midnight tonight.  Your Union Bargaining Committee is awaiting information relative to health care benefits that the Company has been unable to provide.  Despite this, there are still other unrelated issues that remain unresolved.  The Union has been available all day to continue negotiations over these other unresolved issues but the Company has refused to return to the table.  As such, unless the Company returns to the table tonight, we will be working without a contract effective at midnight.  The provisions of the current Agreement remain in effect.

As a result of the Company’s actions, or lack thereof, your Union is filing several charges against the Company with the National Labor Relations Board.  Additional information on these charges will be provided as circumstances develop.

Your Union Committee wants all members to take note of the Company’s blatant display of disregard and disrespect toward their employees.  The need to participate in mobilization activities has never been more critical.
