District 6 Updates

Dear District 6 Local Presidents and Members,

Please allow me to express my deepest gratitude to everyone for all the heartfelt sympathy cards, flowers, telephone calls, and notes of condolences.  Many of you know, it is never easy losing a family member.  I can honestly say you have all been tremendous in helping me and my family start the healing process and I sincerely thank you.

President Shelton and Randall Stephenson remain in discussions regarding the AT&T Surplus announcement of June 13, 2019.  AT&T D4, Legacy AT&T, and AT&T Mobility bargaining are other important items also being discussed.  Unfortunately, no resolutions have been reached.  Rest assure my Administrative Staff and I are working on a contingency plan involving mobilization and other actions should these discussions not result in a positive resolution.  I will keep the District updated on further developments.

CWA’s bad faith case concerning the massive surpluses announced in late 2017, scheduled for the first quarter of 2018, has been scheduled for oral argument in New Orleans, Louisiana before a panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  The hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

In closing, I only wish the update regarding the AT&T Surplus discussions was an explanation to a positive resolution that had been reached;  but please know that I am committed to do everything possible to lessen this massive number of members declared surplussed in this announcement.  It is extremely difficult to accept our members exiting payroll considering the number of contractors AT&T utilizes and the profits continued to be made by AT&T.  As always, thank you for your continued support!

In Unity and Solidarity!
