Mobility Bargaining Report #27
Your CWA Bargaining Committee stood strong and rejected the Company’s retrogressive bargaining proposals including:
• Paid Sick Days – The Company proposed the elimination of Article 21 – Section 6. Illness and Injury. This Company proposal would have eliminated paid sick days.
• A new Short Term Disability Plan that would have cut short term disability from 52 weeks to 26 weeks.
• No raises in the banded pension plan or the BCB2 plan and the elimination of pensions for all new hires effective 1-1-2013.
• The elimination of entitled vacation payment for all employees who leave the payroll during the year regardless of the reason. (Retirement, Resignation, or Termination)
The Company has refused repeatedly to negotiate over the subcontracting of work to vendor Call Centers both in the United States and overseas.
As of 12:01 p.m., Saturday night the 2008 Labor Agreement with the Communications Workers of America District 6, and AT&T Mobility has expired. The Company refused our offer to extend the current contract or stop the clock. At this time we will continue to work, and all employees are to report to work at their normally scheduled hours. The CWA Bargaining Committee will continue to fight hard to negotiate a fair and just contract for our Members. Vice President Cummings said, “I am extremely disappointed that the Company has retrogressive demands they expect our Members to accept while they are refusing to bring work back into the bargaining unit. Unfortunately the Company was not willing to offer an agreement in line with the huge profits that our Members have generated for them. I would like to thank the CWA Bargaining Committee for all their hard work and tireless efforts to try to reach an agreement by the expiration of the contract.” Step up the Mobilization, stand strong, stand united, let the Company hear loud and clear that this type of retrogression is not acceptable! Let’s tell the Company to get serious.
