Central Telephone Company of Texas – Century Link Bargaining Report #1

The Union and Century Link of Texas opened negotiations yesterday morning, Tuesday, September 17, 2019, in Kingwood, Texas. Your CWA Bargaining Committee consists of CWA District 6 Representative Charlie Torres, Local 6174 President Russ Hayes, VP North Mike Tippie and VP South Chip Brownell. The Company Bargaining Committee is led by Chief Negotiator Meredith Moreno.

Negotiations started with the Company and the Union Bargaining Committee chairs making their opening remarks. The Union emphasized that our members were looking for a fair contract and a much needed wage increase.

After opening remarks, the Company presented their proposals and the Union gave the Company their preliminary responses to each proposal.  The Company proposals created much discussion throughout the day.  The Union will be presenting their proposals to the Company on Wednesday, September 18, 2019.

The Committees recessed for the evening to continue review of the proposals submitted by the Company. Your CWA Bargaining Committee will continue to review the proposals on Wednesday morning, September 18, 2019, after which both committees will reconvene to continue negotiations.
